Kyrgyz Republic.
The Honorary Consul of the Kyrgyz Republic, and the co-founder of the First Focus Foundation, Domenica Schiel, is actively working to fortify relationships between the U.K. and the Kyrgyz Republic. Domenica Schiel’s determination and commitment to long-term change, has resulted in the development of the following programmes:
Godparents Sponsorhip Programme

This program is one of the focal points of the First Focus Foundation’s aid strategy. It enables families from England to act as godparents for children and their families in the Kyrgyz Republic. Aid provided by the godparents arrives directly to the recipient family in the Kyrgyz Republic. Packages for the godchildren in the Kyrgyz Republic are delivered several times within a year by the First Focus Foundation and are then handed-over directly to the recipient family. The Godparents know their recipient family well and usually a lively and active contact will develop between the two families. Especially during the holiday periods of Easter and Christmas, all packages are filled with gifts for the recipient family in order to be able to create a little more festive atmosphere for them, too.
Guest Families Programme
This programme will work in close cooperation with schools in the northwest region to enable children from the Kyrgyz Republic to spend part of their summer holidays in the U.K. with a guest family. During their stay, children live at their guest family’s home like the other members of the family. Linguistic barriers must be overcome with imagination and a dictionary. However, several interpreters are also available in case they are needed. During this time, the First Focus Foundation organises a variety of trips, arranges different excursions and festive parties for the children in order to bring the visitors from the Kyrgyz Republic, the country and the people closer together. In addition, these joint activities are intended to bring all of the children who have arrived from the Kyrgyz Republic together, to give them the opportunity to meet and talk in their mother tongue, which will allow them to overcome and relieve their homesickness. The children from the Kyrgyz Republic are given the opportunity to visit and experience a different world - they come from a society, which is administered by crisis and visit a world where abundance governs.
